Findata resumes deliveries of THL’s Hilmo and Avohilmo datasets

The anomalies detected in THL’s care registers led to restrictions on dataset releases. As the investigation has progressed, data deliveries can now resume.

In June, we informed that anomalities had been detected in the diagnosis data of the Hilmo and Avohilmo registers, held by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

THL suspects that retrospective deliveries of long-term diagnoses have been incorrectly linked as secondary diagnoses for patient visits or contacts, instead of being recorded solely as underlying long-term diagnoses as intended. This may affect the interpretation of visit data, particularly regarding chronic illnesses.

THL has investigated the matter together with the wellbeing services counties, and during this time, THL and Findata have suspended data deliveries as a precautionary measure.

As the investigation has progressed, we are now able to resume delivering the Hilmo and Avohilmo data resources held by Findata.

We will contact the data permit holders regarding the data deliveries.

THL continues to investigate the matter.
