Result publication to be simplified: Portti tool will be installed in Kapseli environments August 18–26

A new Portti tool will be installed in all Kapseli environments between August 18 and 26, 2025. The tool simplifies the process of verifying anonymity in research results and replaces previously used summary forms.

“Although the Portti icon may appear on the Kapseli desktop immediately after installation, result transfers via the tool will only be possible starting August 27,” says Findata’s Data Manager Hanna Tervonen.

The installation will not cause any service interruptions. However, the icon may require users to log out and back into Kapseli to become visible.

Portti, Finnish for Gateway, will be officially adopted on September 1, 2025, and will serve as the sole channel for publishing results.

“Portti improves data security and speeds up the anonymity verification process from both the customer and Findata perspectives,” Tervonen notes.

Portti is designed solely for transferring anonymous results. Personal data or any other non-anonymous information must not be transferred via Portti. The tool is being developed as part of the FinHITS project, co-funded by the European Union.

How to transfer results for anonymity verification via Portti
  1. Open the Portti application located on the Kapseli desktop.
  2. Create a new transfer.
  3. Select the files to be transferred.
    • Either a single file or a zip folder (maximum 20 MB) can be transferred.
    • Separate transfers will need to be created for publishable and non-publishable results.
  4. Fill in the required information and select the result type.
  5. Submit the results to Findata for anonymity verification.

After submitting:

  • Findata will process the results as soon as possible, and no later than within five working days.
  • If there are any issues with anonymity, we will provide instructions for corrections by email. If necessary, we may also request additional information before final approval.
  • The progress of the transfer can be followed in the “My Requests” view in Portti.
  • Approved results will be automatically transferred to user’s Tunneli workspace, where they can be downloaded to their own device.
  • Results will remain available in Tunneli for six months.
