Sustaining affordable medications: on the optimal design of competition and regulation in Finnish pharmaceutical market

We will examine how market competition and regulation affect the pricing and demand for pharmaceuticals in Finland, with a special focus on the interactions between patients, physicians, pharmacies and drug producers. To this end, we aim to provide rigorous research evidences on how to optimally combine the two powerful tools (market competition and regulation) to reduce the cost of medication and to improve the accessibility of low-cost drugs.
